Description (last modified by )
The new GPU boxes equipped with 4 x GTX590 are prone to overheating. Ernst Kretzek made very good analysis and proposed to disable some of the GPU coolers to achieve better air flow. This relaxed problem, but still some GPUs overheat if run long enough. Also he reported, that cooling may be enhanced further by putting box coolers in maximum performance mode (it will not solve the problem completely still). Unfortunately, the currently installed power supply does not provide enough power to use this mode.
Ernst currently in communication with One Stop Systems and Tooltec discussing the problem. If there will be no solution from them, we may try to install water cooling system. However, due to the small size of enclosure this will require to cut a hole in the box and put part of the system outside.
- Another GPUBox with 4 GTX580 installed at ANKA is not affected by the problem. In this case the cooling works fine and temperatures does not exceed 85C (97C is allowed maximum)
